The small town of Cala Gonone is located on the eastern coast of Sardinia and part of the Province of Nuoro. The seaside ressort became in the last decades because of its long and sandy beach a famous holiday destination in the Mediterranean.
In Cala Gonone are all the main services like shops, mini markets, restaurants, bars, banks and petrol stations. The nearest locality is Dorgali about 10 km away.
The region is not only famous for its beautiful coast stretch but also for numerous natural and archeological sites and the mountains with interesting caves like the one of Tiscali. Who wants to explore the hinterland has a very wide choice: there are the mountains of the Supramonte, the Ispinigoli Caves, the Nuragical village of Serra Orrios, the Nuragical village of Tiscali and especially for trekking fans the fantastic Gorrupu Gorge. It is the right place to go if you like to cycle or to climb.
