Portu Maga is a small community situated directly on the sea at the famous Costa Verde on the western coast of Sardinia. The community makes part of the Province of Medio-Campidano. The beach of Portu Maga is about 3 km long and of fine sand interrupted by rock formation.

The town of Arbus ist at 30 km, and the capital of the island, Cagliari, is located in the south at a distance of 100 km. The coastline of the community of Arbus which includes the fabulous Costa Verde (Green Coast) is about 47 km long and is confined in the North by Capo Frasca and in the south by Capo Pecora.

The region is famous for its wide sandy dunes intercalated by the typical maditerranean vegetation, like the ones of Piscinas and the abbondaned mines. Some of them can be visited with guided tours.
