Portobello di Gallura is not a holiday resort in Sardinia in the usual sense. There is no town centre, no evening promenade to stroll along, and no busy beach resorts crowded in summer. Portobello is different: a place for those who seek peace and quiet and want to relax by the sea, far from mass tourism.
Located on the north coast of Sardinia (around 70 km from Olbia and approximately 120 km from Alghero), Portobello di Gallura offers about 3 km of coastline set within unspoilt nature. Granite rocks, Mediterranean scrub and open sea views define the landscape, along with small beaches and around 300 villas and houses that blend harmoniously into their surroundings. Access to this private residential park is reserved exclusively for residents, who enter through two controlled gates and enjoy quiet sandy coves and rocky shoreline in complete privacy.
Portobello is often described as a luxury destination, but its luxury is discreet. It lies in harmony with nature, privacy and a relaxed pace of life. This is a place that does not seek visibility, but instead offers a different way to experience Sardinia and truly unwind.
Portobello di Gallura, an exclusive residential park
Portobello di Gallura was conceived as a residential park: a large private complex overlooking the sea, designed for villas and second homes immersed in nature. The houses are spread across a wide area, nestled in Mediterranean vegetation and connected by internal roads and footpaths. The architecture combines Mediterranean style with comfort, featuring large terraces, gardens, panoramic sea views and, in some cases, private swimming pools.
There are no hotels or large accommodation facilities, which gives the area a homely atmosphere and helps preserve its quiet character even during the summer months. The sea and beaches are easily reached on foot. Within Portobello, residents will find a year-round supermarket, seasonal bars and restaurants with pizzerias, a marina for boats up to 7–8 metres, a tennis court (by reservation) and a football pitch.
The beaches within and around the park include Baia dell’Amore, Baia dell’Uomo, Lu Culumbu Beach, Pink Beach, Surveyor’s Beach and Agnata Beach.
Choosing Portobello means opting for a holiday based on independence, privacy and space — closer to life in a seaside home than to a highly organised resort experience.

Places of interest in the Portobello di Gallura area
A stay in Portobello di Gallura allows visitors to explore a remarkably varied area, where sea, archaeology and inland villages are all within easy reach.
Numerous beaches line the north-western coast. In addition to the bays connected to the residential park, it is worth visiting the wide, windswept beach of Rena Majore and the more secluded Monti Russu, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. Towards Santa Teresa Gallura, beaches range from the central Rena Bianca to Baia Santa Reparata, much appreciated for its seabed and views of the archipelago. Cala Vignola and Isola Rossa offer further coastal scenery, with light sand, cliffs and small harbours.
Beyond the coastline, Gallura is rich in archaeological heritage. The Arzachena area is particularly significant, with nuraghi, giants’ tombs and megalithic circles bearing witness to ancient settlements. Near Santa Teresa Gallura, the archaeological site of Lu Brandali combines nuraghe remains and defensive structures overlooking the sea. Throughout the Gallura hinterland, archaeological traces are often integrated into the landscape and freely accessible.
The small towns inland provide further insight into local culture. Aggius, with its stone-built historic centre and museums dedicated to regional traditions, is an important stop, as is Aglientu, closely connected to its rural surroundings. Tempio Pausania serves as the administrative and cultural heart of Gallura, while Luogosanto is known for its spiritual significance and hilltop sanctuaries. San Pantaleo, finally, offers a different atmosphere shaped by art and contemporary creativity.
Portobello di Gallura is therefore ideal for a flexible and unhurried stay: the sea as a starting point, with the freedom to alternate beach days with archaeological visits and inland excursions — experiencing the area as if living there, rather than simply passing through.
