Visit with us: Travel tips for holidays in Cagliari

holidays in cagliari

Thanks to many direct flights Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, becomes a popular holiday destination in Sardinia in the last years. The town is particularly suitable for short or city trips and offers a lively center with narrow lanes. Bars and restaurants, many cultural sights and various attractions, a lively nightlife and a mile-long sandy beach. We recommend for your stay hotels in the city center or near the Poetto beach or comfortable self-catering appartments with Internet access.

2,000 years of history in the underground – visit the excavations under the church of Sant Eulalia

Cagliari is an ancient city and can look back on a long history, as witnessed for example by the Roman amphitheatre and the Villa Tigellio or the medieval fortress towers, which still allow a breathtaking view over the city. But even in the underground there is something to admire.

One place to visit is the still relatively unknown archaeological site located under the small church of Sant Eulalia in the historic Marina district. The discovery of the hidden ruins dates back to 1990 when renovation work on a well that was filled with debris was exposed. The following bring to the light an approximately 4 m and 13 m long paved road from the 1st century, leading to the nearby port, and the remains of a colonnade and houses. The area has a size of about 200 sqm.

In the upper floor of historic relics of the three churches Sant’Eulalia, Santa Lucia and Santo Sepulchre are issued.
