Let yourself be surprised by the north of Sardinia, by the Costa Smeralda, when the jet set is far away and pedaling along roads permeated with the scent of myrtle. Admire the wind-sculpted Gallura granite rocks and the dense cork forests, then rest on white beaches and secluded coves. Let this bike tour show you medieval Sardinia from Castelsardo to Alghero.
The Emerald Coast
The islands of La Maddalena and Caprera
The granite mountains and cork forests of Gallura
The wide pastures of Anglona
The medieval fortress of Castelsardo, the bastion and the city walls in Alghero
* When departing from Alghero, the stages are reversed
Day 1: Arrival
Organized transfer or individual arrival to Cannigione, overnight stay.
Day 2: Costa Smeralda, round trip (54 km)
Discover the beauties of the Costa Smeralda! We cycle towards Arzachena and then up to the hills of San Pantaleo. We continue towards Porto Cervo and then to Baia Sardinia before returning to Cannigione.
Day 3: The archipelago of La Maddalena, round trip (60km)
Today we head north to Palau from where we take the ferry to La Maddalena. From here, via a bridge, you can reach the island of Caprera, where the Garibaldi House-Museum is located. Back in La Maddalena, a tour allows us to discover the beautiful beaches of this small island. Return by ferry to Palau and Cannigione.
Day 4: Cannigione - Tempio Pausania / Nuchis (51 km)
Today we explore the beauties of interior Sardinia: we drive through Gallura, characterized by large cork oak forests and imposing granite rocks shaped by wind and rain, to Tempio Pausania, where we spend the night.
Day 5: Tempio Pausania / Nuchis – Castelsardo (49 km)
From Tempio we head towards the sea again, passing the Valley of the Moon (Valle della Luna). The cycling stage ends in Castelsardo, a medieval fortress built in 1102 by the Doria family overlooking the sea.
Day 6: Castelsardo – Sassari (33/55 km)
We visit another area of the interior and pass through the villages of Nulvi and Osilo to enjoy spectacular views over the entire Anglona region. Tonight we sleep in Sassari, the second largest city in Sardinia.
Day 7: Sassari – Alghero (44 km)
The last stage of our bike tour takes us to Alghero. After leaving Sassari we reach the coast by cycling on secondary roads. Alghero is a beautiful fortified city famous for its seafront ramparts. The streets of the historic center, which are completely closed to traffic, retain a special charm. Alghero residents continue to speak a dialect directly derived from Catalan, making the city a linguistic enclave.
Day 8: End of the tour
After breakfast, end of service.
