PROGRAM
Day 1: Arrival in Cagliari
Arrival in Cagliari in southern Sardinia. The island's capital is always worth a visit.
Depending on your arrival time, you can continue straight on via Pula to Sant'Antioco or stay overnight in Cagliari in a B&B or charming hotel.
Day 2: The fascinating south coast, extensive sandy beaches and Roman ruins
Pula and Chia are known for their long sandy dream beaches.
In the pleasant town of Pula, you can also visit the ancient city of Nora and stroll through the charming centre.
In the afternoon, continue along the beautiful Costa del Sud to Sant'Antioco in the south-western tip of Sardinia.
Overnight stay in Sant'Antioco.
Day 3: Discover Sant'Antioco and Carloforte
In the morning, take the ferry from Calasetta to the small island of San Pietro with its charming main town of Carloforte: stroll through the narrow streets of the town and let yourself be enchanted by its charm. The island is known for its couscous dishes and the preparation of tuna, which is also caught here.
In the early afternoon, we return to Calasetta. The remaining time can be spent either relaxing on the beach or exploring the peninsula by car.
Overnight stay in Sant'Antioco.
Day 4: Costa Verde – dunes and abandoned mining landscapes
From Sant'Antioco, we now drive north via Iglesias.
On the west coast of Sardinia, amidst high shifting dunes and almost untouched nature, you will discover abandoned mines and mining sites, ancient temples, fascinating caves, great beaches and rugged landscapes.
Buggerru and, further north, the Costa Verde are not so well known, but in our opinion they are definitely worth seeing!
Overnight stay between Buggerru and Fluminimaggiore
Day 5: Off to Cabras and Tharros
After breakfast, we take a winding road through a fascinating and wildly romantic landscape with fantastic panoramic views to Cabras and Oristano, which lie on lagoon lakes by the sea.
Here, the coast offers a variety of beaches, from fine pebble beaches to imposing rock arches and white cliffs, and on the Sinis peninsula, the ruins of the ancient city of Tharros.
Overnight stay in Cabras
Day 6: Giara di Gesturi and Nuraghe Su Barumini
Today, we take country roads into the interior of the island: nature lovers should definitely visit the Giara di Gesturi plateau, where, with a little luck, you may spot the small wild horses for which the plateau is so famous.
If you want to learn more about the prehistoric nuraghe structures found all over the island, you should explore Nuraghe Su Nuraxi near Barumini: narrow passages, some of which lead across steep steps through the tower, take you inside this imposing structure.
Overnight stay in Cagliari
Day 7: The bustling island metropolis of Cagliari
Today is dedicated to Cagliari and its long sandy beach, Poetto.
You can stroll through the city centre, visit one of the numerous museums, relax in one of the many green spaces (botanical garden!) and end the day at the beach with an aperitif in one of the bars.
