Costa Verde - Medio Campidano (MD)

The Costa Verde, a 10 km long coast stretch in the south-west of Sardinia, is about 15 km away from the small town of Arbus. From there a winding and panoramic road leads to the unspoilt Green coast, called like this because of the rich vegetation of the region.

Although Sardinia is well known as a holiday destination the Costa Verde is still one of the less known places on the island. Like the Costa Smeralda the Costa Verde is cliffy with some smoother bays and sandy beaches, like the one of Scivu, in between.

The coast stretch impressed thanks to its unspoilt nature and lush vegetation Worth a visit the sandy dunes of Piscinas which can reach a height of about 50 m and have an expansion of approx. 2 km: wind and weather form the dunes without cease. Abandoned mines like the ones of Ingurtosu and Montevecchio enhance the fascinating character of this rough landscape.

Other places to go are the Su Mannau cave, the Roman-Punic Antas temple nearby Fluminimaggiore and some prehistorical Nuraghic site in the north-east of Arbus.
