Gonnesa in brief – information and more

Gonnesa is a little community situated on the south-eastern part of Sardinia with approx. 5.200 inhabitants and belongs to the province of Carbonia-Iglesias. Carbonia is about 14 km away, and Cagliari, the capital of the island, about 60 km. The nearest beaches are the one of Porto Paglia and Funtanamare.

Gonnesa is an ideal starting point to explore the south-western part of Sardinia with its high sandy dunes, long beaches, cliffs and numerous abandoned mines. It is possible to visit a few of them and some really interesting caves with guided tours.

Other recommended trips are the visit of the islands S. Pietro and S. Antioco in the south, and to explore the famous Costa Verde, the green coast, in the north-west.
