The town of Oristano with its 30.000 inhabitants is located on the west coast of Sardinia and the capital of the Province of Oristano. Oristano is a charming peaceful little city with its rich and ancient origins. The town layout has a strong Spanish mark and there are many medioeval monuments which give tangible evidences of its historical importance.

The Sa Sartiglia, an traditional horse tournament in the historical centre of the town, marks the end of the carnival period and the beginning of Lent and takes place on the last Sunday before Lent. Each day begins at about two o’clock in the afternoon with the robing of the “Cumpoidori”, who is the Master of ceremonies.
