Why you will enoy it:

With this long-distance hike you will discover the still partly unknown southwest, its breathtaking landscape with wild coasts and sandy beaches and now disused mines and fascinating caves.

Explore in this 8 day trekking vacation the amazing and unspoilt southwest of Sardinia

With this varied long-distance hike in Sardinia, you will discover the still partly unknown south west, its breathtaking landscape with wild coasts and long sandy beaches and its past with a multitude of now disused mines and fascinating caves. You sleep in comfortable and partly family-run 3*** hotels or agriturismi, where you can book on request dinner or eat in a recommended restaurant in the place of the overnight stay. The advantage of this excellently organized hiking tour without a guide is that your luggage will be transferred from hotel to hotel and, on some hiking routes, you will be brought to the starting point or picked up at the destination and accompanied to the accommodation. So you can fully concentrate on the beautiful hikes!

Day 3 – from Buggerru to Fluminimaggiore (17 km / 6 hrs)
The longest day offers some of the most rewarding scenery of the entire week. Leave the coastline and venture inland, crossing a vast mountainous area with holm oak forests and some ruined buildings that bear witness to the ancient mining past of this part of Sardinia.
The final descent leads to the valley of the Riu Savoi and to your accommodation, a charming agriturismo serving fresh local food, located in the small village of Fluminimaggiore.
Overnight in the area.

Day 4 – Antas (9 km / 2h30)
Transfer to Antas. The tour begins at the Punic and Roman Temple of Antas near Fluminimaggiore, heading north to reach the Grotta di Su Mannau, where the first Sardinian populations practiced water worship. After a break at the springs of Pubusinu, return to Fluminimaggiore.
Overnight in the area.

Day 5 – from Fluminimaggiore to Sciopadroxiu (9 km / 2h30)
This day is dedicated to the ancient mining past of Sardinia. Following old mining trails, you will reach Naracauli, with the impressive and evocative ruins of the old ore washery.
Overnight in the area.

Day 6 – Piscinas, exploration day (8 km / 2 hrs)
You will explore Piscinas, famous for its sand dunes—among the highest in Europe—and its Mediterranean vegetation. You may also spot the Sardinian deer at sunset, which is widespread in this area.
Overnight in the area.

Day 7 – Sciopadroxiu and Montevecchio (15 km / 3h30)
A walk along the paths once used by miners to reach Montevecchio, formerly the main mining town of Sardinia. The route winds through hills covered in Mediterranean scrub, offering a rich display of scents and colors, especially in spring.
